2004 R.E.A.C.H. Results

The R.E.A.C.H. program was a great success again this year! Congratulations to all of the 2004 R.E.A.C.H. participants! In the tradition of R.E.A.C.H., each of the four Orchard Park elementary school fifth graders worked on a different art project that was then put on display at Rider Frames & Gallery. The students and their families all enjoyed seeing each child’s artwork displayed professionally in a real gallery. The artwork was amazing and you should all be very proud-it was a privilege to display the pieces in our gallery. Special thanks to each of the art teachers who took the time to be involved in this year’s program. Your hard work is greatly appreciated by all. Thanks also to Cappelli’s Pizzeria who generously participated in this year’s event by providing special pizza certificates to all of the children who attended the gallery showing.
Mr. Paul Bond’s students at Windom Elementary created fabulous colorful pop pieces based on the artwork of Andy Warhol. Colleen Kelley’s students at South Davis Elementary created vibrant abstracts based on the style of artist Helen Frankenthaler. The student’s at Ellicott Elementary were taught by their teacher, Laurie Bigaj, about the art of David Hockney and then drew their own wonderful abstract landscapes in a similar style. Wendy Johnson’s students at Eggert Elementary tried their hand at weaving and created fantastic mixed media wall hangings.
Congratulations to this year’s R.E.A.C.H. winners– Windom Elementary School! The students from Mr. Paul Bond’s 5th grade art class had the highest turnout at the gallery to view their artwork on display in March. Rider Frames & Gallery along with Cappelli’s Pizzeria will celebrate the winning school this year with a special reward at the end of the school year.
We hope that all who participated enjoyed being a part of R.E.A.C.H. 2004 and we look forward to next year!
