Custom Framing How-To-Guide

When is a custom framing project too large to do at home?  Is it easy to custom frame your photographs and prints?  We will answer these questions and more!!!!

What do you want to frame???

Choose a photograph or a print.  Spray Mount (can be purchased in craft stores) the piece on foam core or stiff cardboard to form the back.  Be sure to adhere well with no ripples or creases.   Make sure the back is sized correctly to fit into the frame.

Choose mattes.  There are hundreds of colors to choose from and many textures.  The greatest variety is available at a custom framing shop.  We are able to cut mattes for your project.  1. Measure the inside of your frame (from the back).  2. Measure the cut-out size.  We will need both dimensions to properly cut a matte.  This is a difficult step to do at home.  You would need a matte cutter (can be purchase at local craft stores) to achieve the 45 degree bevel.  Two mattes are a great design feature; they add dimension and color.

Choose a frame.  Frames are available in many sizes, colors, widths and styles.  We can guide you through this step.  Take into account where the piece will hang; will it have to match other artwork and frames?  Measure the wall where you wish to hang it.  When you bring this information to us we can help you choose the perfect frame and mattes.
