With the increased ease and rise in popularity of printing to canvas, FLOATER FRAMES have become very popular. Many clients ask us about floater frames. Here is everything you need to know.

What is a floater frame?

A floater frame surrounds a canvas with a ½” space from the edge of the canvas to the start of frame. It appears as if the canvas is floating within a box. Floater frames come in a number of finishes: black, gold, silver, wood tones, and widths. They are typically made of wood (though they can also be made of metal. Floater frames are decorative and cannot replace stretcher bars.

Remember: Stretcher bars are the framework which a canvas is attached to. Floater frames surround a canvas and its stretcher bars.
